KAPELMUUR cocoti ride report ~ Minamiboso long ride ~
Mar 22, 2024
Hello, this is Ogata from KAPELMUUR Shibuya cocoti store.
This time we will be bringing you a ride report from the KAPELMUUR cocoti Ride - a long ride around Minami Boso - which was held on Sunday, March 17th .
KAPELMUUR cocoti ride is a ride event that gives you the opportunity to ride wearing KAPELMUUR clothing...
As a directly managed store of a clothing brand, we offer beginner to intermediate level courses every month, mainly in the Kanto area, with the aim of promoting interaction between cyclists regardless of bike model or manufacturer.
■ Route for the day

This time we will be riding in Chiba Prefecture. We will gather at the Kanaya Ferry Terminal and ride around Minami Boso for a total distance of about 90km .
This is an intermediate course that boasts the longest distance among the standard KAPELMUUR cocoti ride courses.

■ Held in strong winds

The weather was fine on the day. 20 participants attended.
The daytime maximum temperature rose to nearly 20°C , which was very warm for this time of year, but there was a strong southerly wind from the morning, making it difficult to judge whether everyone would be able to complete the long 90km course.
We split into four groups of five people based on running ability, and at the start, each group was attended by a Team Lion member and me.
First, we start riding to the first rest stop, Miyoshimura Hinosato Roadside Station, while keeping an eye on the situation.
■ Miyoshimura Hinanosato Roadside Station

Departing from Kanaya Port, we arrived at the first rest point, "Miyoshimura Hinanosato Roadside Station," about 22 km later.
This roadside station is surrounded by rural scenery and is equipped with facilities such as a shop, restaurant, and foot bath.

■ Change to a shortcut course

The strong winds that had been blowing since the start showed no signs of stopping, and the winds were forecast to get even stronger in the afternoon.
The plan was to head south from here and ride along the coast of Minami Boso, but we decided not to push ourselves too hard and instead changed the route to a shortcut, taking the shortest route to the west side of the Boso Peninsula and heading for Kanaya Port, the starting point.

■ Okamoto Pier

We head out to the west side of the Boso Peninsula and drive for a while before arriving at Okamoto Pier.
Okamoto Pier (Haraoka Pier), located between Haraoka Beach and Tadara Kitahama Beach, is one of the few wooden sea piers in the country. This historic pier, built in 1921 (Taisho 10 ) for fishing purposes, has a nostalgic appearance that evokes a Showa retro feel.

■ Goal: Kanaya Ferry Terminal

Leaving Okamoto Pier behind, we head for Kanaya Ferry Terminal.
The wind was in our favor, and we made it to the finish line safely, with just under 20km remaining.
We were able to complete the project without any major issues.
Thank you to everyone who participated and to Team Lion for attending.
